Permitting Your Alarm System in Harris County

Did you know that if you have an alarm system in unincorporated Harris County, an alarm permit is required? Any residence or business with an alarm system located within unincorporated Harris County is required to register that alarm system in order to be issued a Harris County Alarm Permit.

Why do I need to register my alarm system?

Due to the increase in the number of alarm systems being operated, the number of false alarms has increased as well. Responding to false alarms has created an additional burden on emergency personnel. Nationwide, approximately 99% of burglar alarms are false. Harris County wants to reduce the number of false alarms that personnel respond to in order to utilize Harris County resources for actual emergencies.

How to register

For more information, visit this website or call the Harris County Sheriff's Office Alarm Administration at 713-755-4600 for assistance.
