High school summer school classes in the Lincoln Public Schools have been planned to cover a wide range of course offerings for students grades 9-12. The summer school program provides:
Summer School is open for all current LPS students and Non-LPS students who live in the LPS boundary (those students will register during late registration).
High school summer school is open to students who were in grades 9-12 during the 2023-2024 school year. Students who have received a high school diploma or General Equivalency Certificate are NOT eligible to participate in summer school. Students who are expelled from school are not eligible to register for summer school. All students are encouraged to talk with their school counselor regarding appropriate course selections.
Students enrolled in a five-week class may be dropped from class when they have been absent three consecutive days or five times—for any reason.
If a student is ill and cannot attend school, they should make arrangements with their teacher to complete make-up work. Absences due to late registration or illness count as part of the three or five day total allowed absences.
Students who are absent the first day of summer school without contacting the summer school office prior to 12:30 p.m. on May 30th, 2024 will be dropped from their class. Students could then reregister on May 30th or 31st.
eLearning will be offered at both North Star and Lincoln High as long as the minimum class sizes are met. Students may take a variety of courses that are taught through computer assisted instruction.
Students proceed through the courses at their own pace. A teacher is on duty to assist students. eLearning courses that are offered are Core, Prescriptive, and Elective.
Students register for eLearning courses through the regular summer school registration process and then meet with their counselor to decide which eLearning course is best for them.
Students are expected to attend class every day until the course is finished. Assessments and quizzes will need to be completed during the regular class times because the teacher needs to unlock the assessments and quizzes.
If a student is taking ONLY eLearning classes they will have the option to do this remotely. They will be required to check in with their eLearning teacher on a weekly basis during their scheduled time of class. If a student is taking one regular class AND one eLearning class they will be required to attend their eLearning class in person.
Fully remote eLearning classes are limited to the following courses:
Additional courses are available for students to take; however, they must be taken in person.
eLearning courses not completed by the end of summer school will result in a failing grade.
